Solo with Robot Orchestra is a project craved out of the visionary worlds of Karel Čapek (the inventor of the word Robot) and Godfried-Willem Raes, brought into existence through the enthusiastic support of Joana Vasconcelos.
The human being is not only homo sapiens (rationality), but also homo demens (madness) and homo ludens (game), homo faber (productive action), homo economicus (interested only in personal profit), and so on.
Intuition involves concepts in the limit of the thinkable, in the same way that Improvisation depends on an openness hic et nunc to the unforeseen.
Scientific and cultural contemporaneity affirms itself as the end of certainties, where the concept of Noise is the hallmark of deconstruction and polysemy, from the positive sciences to philosophy and art, permeating the postmodern situation of music. The electronic world has become a sensory extension of our perception, memory, even imagination…
The over-specialization of knowledge is one of the great tragedies of the current Era. Solo with Robot Orchestra attempts to explore the ineffable, unknown, and obscure area of creative musical thinking that escapes contemporary science and rationality, since reason appears nowadays restricted and fragmented, thus closed to the complexity of the Real.
Like the fragmented body of cellist Zil Zelub, of Guido Buzzelli, we are experiencing a post-holocaust world of universal psychosis dominated by machines. But we should not forget music, poetry, or myth on the road to reality: It is urgent to reunite creative spiritual intentions with the most advanced technology.
