Wednesday, October 17, at 6:00 p.m. Auditorium of the Berardo Collection Museum.
Free entrance, subject to the number of seats available.

Sound has immense potential for scientific and artistic research, revealing deep connections both to fundamental physics and to the human psyche. In this conference, the following will be dealt with in an anarchic way: (1) the relationship between sound as a scientific entity and sound as perception, (2) the consequences of the autonomy of noise, and (3) the boundaries between computability and creativity in electronic art music, from the point of view of artistic research *.

The three problems are clues that allow us to arrive at the interpretation of consciousness as the music of nature and to outline a concept of the philosophy of music developed in collaboration with the musicologist Jorge Lima Barreto - Unrealized Musical Energy.

* Artistic research: interdisciplinary research, encompassing science, technique, theory and / or technology, based on the author's own artistic creation; music as art-science.

Conference presented at the VIII Cycle of International Conferences on Art, History and Thought, organized by the School of Communication, Arts and Information Technologies of the University Lusófona, together with the Berardo Collection Museum.

SUSPENSION | 31.08.2018 | 21H30 | CONVENT OF SÃO FRANCISCO | COIMBRA

On August 31, 2018, Suspension will be presented at the stage of the Convent of São Francisco's Great Auditorium, in Coimbra.

Suspension was developed by the artist and composer Jonas Runa, the choreographer Clara Andermatt and the composer António Sá-Dantas. A show of electroacoustic instruments, whose sound is activated through the body, movement and light. All the sound is created live by the performers, in a gesture of dance and sound exploration where the instrument is the body itself, its movements and the shadow that they project in the space.

Suspension is a co-production of Companhia Clara Andermatt and Teatro Viriato. It premiered on March 12, 2016 at the Teatro Viriato (Viseu), and was performed at the Centro Cultural de Belém, Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite (Almada) and at the Teatro-Cine de Torres Vedras.
